The Prix Émile Hermès 2014

In 2008, our belief in the vital importance of support for creativity, and the conditions for creativity to emerge and flourish, led to the creation of a design award saluting new projects responding to society’s current and future needs, based on a rigorous analysis of the object’s inherent purpose and meaning.

The Prix Émile Hermès is an international design award reflecting the core commitments of the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, to promote expert skills and creativity.

The Prize aims to discover and encourage emerging design talent, reflecting the parallel aims of the Foundation’s programmes in the visual and performing arts.

Inevitably, this major international Prize reflects considerations central to development in all its forms: the manufacturing and industrial expertise required to produce the designs entered, and most importantly of all, their environmental impact, in the context of mankind’s continuing quest for better quality of life.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my warmest thanks to Michele De Lucchi, for agreeing to serve as president of the jury for the third Prix Émile Hermès.

Pierre-Alexis Dumas
